Academy students in K5 through 5th grades may participate in one or more of the following after-school activities:
Enrichment (Daily Mon.-Thurs.): The class will be a time for supervised homework, computer lab time, crafts, games, and outdoor activities. Class Length: 1 hour (2 sessions available each afternoon 2:30-3:30 and 3:30-4:30) Cost: $8.00 per session (calculated into a semester fee based on the number of sessions selected each week)
The Best Art Class Ever (Mondays): For the creative child that loves to paint and draw? It will be an afternoon for letting the child’s imagination run wild. Students will explore the elements of art during an exciting art adventure. Cost: 1st semester $225 (15 classes) and 2nd semester $255 (17 classes) Class Length: 1 hour (2:30-3:30), Class Limit: 12 children
Music Plus (Tuesdays): Music Plus will include work with hand bells, choir chimes, Orff, and other rhythm instruments in a more directed and intentional environment. Students will be featured in the Academy Christmas and spring programs. Cost: 1st semester $ 240 (16 classes) and $2nd semester $300 (20 classes)Class Length: 1 hour (2:30-3:30), Class limit: 12 children
Physical Fun (Wednesdays): This afterschool PE program teaches the fundamentals of fitness and sports using games that keep the child moving. Students are guaranteed to sweat while having fun in a safe and mostly non-competitive environment. The Stretch and Grow curriculum strives to increase the children’s fitness level by challenging them to play harder. Cost: 1st semester $150 (15 sessions) and 2nd semester $200 (20 sessions) Class Length: 1 hour (2:30-3:30), Class Limit: 15 children
“Acting-Out” (Thursdays): Acting-Out will focus on helping children be articulate and comfortable in front of other students and adults. This includes public speaking, acting, and thinking on their feet in any situation. Students will also be featured in the Academy programs. Cost: 1st semester $195 (13 session) and 2nd semester $285 (19 sessions) Class Length: 1 hour (2:30-3:30), Class Limit: 12
C.S.I. (Fridays): CSI Fridays will be a fun-filled afternoon of Computer lab, hands-on Science experiments, and investigative activities that will occasionally involve “expeditions” downtown. (The Children’s Museum, Falls Park, Marble Slab Creamery, and other exciting venues.) Cost: 1st semester $180 (12 sessions) and $2nd semester $240 (16 sessions) Class Length: 1 and ½ hours (2:30-4:00), Class Limit: 15 children
If additional coverage for your child is required beyond 4:30, contact Monique Jensen (292-9373) to make arrangements for your child. We will take “drop-ins” in the Enrichment program based on daily staffing and availability during the school year at a cost of $10.00 per session.
