New Programming for the Academy
LEAP (Learning Enrichment and Advanced Academic Programming)is a program for students who are identified as academically gifted. The school is providing programming for identified students in grades K5 through 5th. We are the first school in the state of South Carolina and the Greenville Area to provide services for students as young as K5, 1st, and 2nd.
How do students participate in the program? Each year the school administers standardized testing in the spring. Entrance into the program is based on student performance in the areas of the Cognitive Skills Battery, Reading Assessment and Math Assessment. Test scores from the standardized testing are used to identify children who qualified this year for the program. Students attend classes at least once a week in multiage groupings.
Each year every student in the Academy will have the opportunity to qualify for the program. Also, once a student is in the program, they will always be served through the LEAP program.
