Preschool is the first important step in a child's education. It is the preschool that lays the foundation for all future school experiences. Therefore, we at First Presbyterian Academy make every effort for this to be a positive and fulfilling time in every way. We want the change from home to school to be a happy one for the child. One where he/she feels safe and secure. We are a community which values the child as a child and provides real time and space for the essential work of early childhood: PLAY!
The First Presbyterian Academy believes that it is important that each child understand and respect his/her own self-worth. A child who is comfortable with himself can proceed with any experience. To develop this self-value, The Academy offers the child a wide variety of experiences in a Christian environment.
Some of these experiences include:
- interaction with peers to develop social behavior
- skills to increase concept development and language abilities
- music and art activities to enhance aesthetic appreciation and creative aptitudes
- manipulative exercises for fine motor development
- physical education for gross motor development
- auditory, visual and perceptual experiences to enhance readiness skills
